SOFRONIO ESPAÑOLA, Palawan — The municipal council in this town recently approved a supplemental budget worth over P5 million as compensation for its frontliners fighting against the coronavirus disease.
Approved through Resolution No. 2020-048 authored by municipal councilor Jonathan Chua, Supplemental Budget No. 04 for Fiscal Year 2020 was approved on June 8 and signed by mayor Marsito Acoy on June 9.
Town vice mayor Rona Chou said the amount will be used to compensate their municipal frontliners who have been fighting COVID-19 from March to May. The amount will also serve as their hazard pays.
“May mga available resources naman at naaprobahan ng konseho natin yan sa ilalim din ng Bayanihan to Health as One Act,” she said.
“Inaayos na ang cheque nila para makuha nila ang hazard pay nila within the week. Inaayos na ng accountant natin at treasury,” Chou added.
The amount will be received by 290 workers and tanod from nine barangays. It will also be for municipal government employees who served as frontliners.
Chou said the P5.4 million supplemental budget was from Personal Services Savings 2020, SPA Lump-Sum Appropriation 2020, and Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses 2020.
