“Continues ang counting hanggang walang lost time accident,” Camo said.

DENR Administrative Order 2000 -98 defines non- Lost time accidents are those that will not prevent the injured person from reporting to his designated work on a working day following the day of injury and thereafter.

“Usually ang mga accidents natin ay mga first aid cases. Vehicular pa rin pero wala naman nagkakaroon ng injury sa ating mga drivers,” she said.

Philippine Mining Act (Republic Act 7942) requires mining companies to promote a culture of safety and health in its operation by observing the standards set by law.

The company is a recipient of the Presidential Mineral Industry Environment Award (PMIEA) as the Safest Surface Mining Operation in the country.  PMIEA is the highest award given to deserving companies in various categories in mining in recognition of their outstanding levels of dedication, initiative, and innovation in the pursuit of excellence in environmental mineral utilization

Camo attributed the company’s achievement to the collaboration between its rank and file and the top management.

“When you say safety kasi, it’s not only the safety department. From the rank and file up to the top management. Kung walang support from the top management hindi sya ma-achieve,” she said.

The company implements strict safety policies not only among its employees but also with the family or dependents of the employees living in the townsite and even to visitors.

Safety orientations are conducted among the family members of the employees which include among others the proper handling of fire extinguishers and traffic rules within the townsite.

“Safety is a way of life even after work. That’s why we have this fun walk even sa mga dependents,” she said.

She added that the company cannot be complacent when it comes to the safety of its workers, employees, and community. It is consistent effort to ensure that everyone is safe as the company operates.
