As part of its awareness campaign in Rio Tuba Nickel’s mineral development operations, conveying the responsible mining message and responsibilities to its stakeholders: the people of Bataraza and the province of Palawan, RTN held a 1-day Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign, incorporating “Mining Legends in Mobile Legends” on January 31, 2020, at the Bataraza town center.
The program was spearheaded by Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation – Community Relations Department in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Municipality of Bataraza as part of its 56th Founding Anniversary.
The activity included the “Re-Launching of Department of Natural Resources and Environment – Mines Geosciences Bureau’s (DENR-MGB) #MineResponsibility. It is a Responsible Mining Campaign, a video documentary, which aims to promote strong awareness on how the mining industry in the country is being regulated by government policies since the enactment of R.A 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
“The campaign is an eye-opening quest towards proving that responsible mining exists and is way to our future, a mining industry that is financially viable, technically feasible, socially acceptable and environmentally compliant.” (Source: MGB Facebook page)
