The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDDRMO) of Roxas town was adjudged as the champion in the Palawan Rescue Olympics (PRO) on September 20.
The Roxas MDRRMO garnered a score of 80.91 percent and additional awards as Best in Life Saving, Best in Bandaging, Best in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Best in Emergency Childbirth
The Rescue Olympics is a disaster risk reduction training competition among local MDRMMO units aimed at enhancing the capacities of emergency responders.
The Roxas team also got a cash award of P20,000.
Jerry Alili, provincial DRRMO chief urged all MDRRMO’s “to improve their emergency rescue responses to save more lives and to be aligned with the Palawan government’s development goals.”
“Kasabay ng mabilis na pag-unlad ng lalawigan ay mas tumataas din ang mga risk na maaaring maranasan dito kung kaya’t dapat ay mag-upgrade din ang mga MDRRMO,” he said.
He expects that other MDRRMOs to follow the lead of the Roxas team and showed its emergency response dexterities “with dedication and perseverance to save lives.”
Placing second was the Rizal MDRRMO along with awards in Best in CPR and Best in Spinal Injury Management and a P15, 000 cash prize.
