The Rotary Club of Puerto Princesa Central (RCPPC) is sponsoring 40 aspiring electricians to undergo a weeklong free electrical training workshop in partnership with the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) from April 22 to 27.
Dr. Jimmy del Rosario, RCPPC president, said they screened participants in selected barangays and prioritized unemployed individuals to avail of the program.
“We already conducted ‘yong screening sa mga chosen barangays, pinili namin ‘yong mga walang trabaho na willing matuto para mabigyan sila ng opportunity na maging productive citizens,” he said.
He added that they chose to offer free electrical training because it is easy to learn and is in-demand, especially that Palawan lacks electricians.
“Madaling matutunan at madaling pagkakakitaan at nagkukulang din talaga tayo ng mga electricians kaya ito ang napili namin,” he pointed out.
He said the training will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free lunch and snacks.
Those who complete the training will be accredited by PALECO as certified electricians and will also receive electrical kits that they can use immediately.
“So if ever maging successful ito ipagpapatuloy pa rin namin ang training kasi advocacy namin na makatulong at isa ito sa aming areas of focus,” del Rosario said.
