A luxury residential cruise ship is expected to make its first port of call in Puerto Princesa City on the second quarter of 2021.
Michie Meneses, City Tourism Office (CTO) promotion and marketing division chief, said they are preparing for the arrival of the cruise condominium vessel owned by Storylines company called “My Home at Sea” which is expected to bring to Puerto Princesa around 1,200 homeowners.
“So far ngayon talaga nagpre-prepare kami sa arrival na ito, kasi imagine kung five days sila magda-dock dito, [ihahanda namin] kung saan sila dadalhin. Actually, ang paliwanag sa amin ay may villa tapos may penthouse [within the cruise ship], nagre-reside sila doon,” Meneses said.
Regular cruise ships dock only for a couple of hours or an overnight stay, she said this residential cruise ship will be docked in the city for a week.
Aileen Cynthia Amurao, city tourism officer, in a Facebook post, said that Roxanne Trojian of Storylines Cruise Residential “My Home at Sea” along with her team, is already conducting an ocular inspection of the city’s prime tourism sites.
Meneses added that it was the Department of Tourism (DOT) that helped in the negotiations with the residential cruise company.
“Actually, ang DOT talaga ang nag-connect sa atin sa kanila. Pagdating sa cruise ship ang tinitingnan ng DOT talaga, isa sa mga LGUs and places na pino-promote nila is the City of Puerto Princesa. Kasi nakita nila ‘yong cruise ship port na meron tayo dito sa Palawan, ‘yong port na meron tayo and ‘yong way natin ng pag-estimate ng bisita,” she also said.
She added they look forward to welcoming this ship using the Puerto Princesa City Cruise Ship Port currently being constructed in Quito district.
