A 42-year old man was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Purok Sea Breeze II, Brgy. Alfonso XIII, Quezon, Wednesday morning.

The suspect was identified as Bernie Roa Balacano, a local resident.

Operatives of the Quezon Municipal Police Station (MPS) served him an arrest warrant in his house issued by Judge Ramon Chito Mendoza of the Regional Trial Court Branch 164 dated July 30.

Confiscated from him was one unit of Armscor 202 caliber .38 with a defaced serial number and one piece sling bag.

Quezon MPS officer-in-charge P/Maj. Lodell Lota, said the arrest of the suspect was a result of their intensive campaign against loose firearms.

The suspect is set to face charges for violating RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
