Some 4,500 family food packs (FFP) and 600 non-food items were shipped by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on November 2 and 3 to be distributed to Paeng-affected towns in Northern Palawan.

The PDRRMO said that the FFPs and nonfood items going to the towns of Coron, Culion, and Busuanga on the naval vessels BRP Benguet LS 507 and MRRV 4402-MALABRIGO came from the provincial government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“Makatatanggap ang bayan ng Coron ng 500 FFP (PGP), 500 FFP (DSWD), at 200 non-food items (DSWD). Para naman sa bayan ng Culion ay mayroong 1000 FP (PGP), 500 FFP (DSWD), 200 non-food items (DSWD) at ang bayan ng Busuanga ay makatatanggap ng 1000 FP (PGP), 500 FFP (DSWD), 200 non-food items (DSWD),” the emergency response office said in a statement.

“Naging mabilis ang isinagawang paghahakot ng Family Food Packs (FFP) dahil na rin sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng Provincial Emergency Operation Center sa ilalim ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) kasama ang Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) mula sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno, tulad na lamang ng WESCOM, Coast Guard District Palawan, Philippine Navy, PEPO, SPS Personnel, 4th ARCEN at JTFICare,” PDRRMO also said.

Northern Palawan was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 during the onslaught of Typhoon Paeng leaving more or less 1,762 evacuees from Coron, 132 in Busuanga, and 75 in Culion.
