The Provincial Board (PB) approved on Tuesday a measure that authorizes Governor Jose Chaves Alvarez to enter into an agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to access to the “Listahanan” database that identifies poor households in Palawan.

Board Member Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez said the DSWD requires the PB to authorize Governor Alvarez to sign the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on the sharing of information from the Listahanan database following the passage of Republic Act 10174 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

The law protects individual personal information and the human rights privacy.

“May iba kasi na information na na-generate ang DSWD na hindi pa natin na-aacess, may mga specific. Magagamit ito ng provincial government para maging basehan ng social welfare natin sa mga programs, kaya magkakaroon muna ng MOA,” he pointed out.

Listahanan under Executive Order No. 867 is the system that identifies the names and locations of poor households and maintain the system that will serve as repository of the data.

Data is updated every four years and can be shared with the local government units (LGUs) as a basis in the selection of the beneficiaries of the social protection programs and services.
