The Community Enhancement and Livelihood Program for Drugs Surrenderees (CELPDS) has launched the Aktibong Kabataan Tungo sa Ikauunlad ng Bayan (AKTIB) in two national high schools in Aborlan to protect them against drug use and dependency.
A statement from the Provincial Information Office (PIO) sent Wednesday said AKTIB was launched by the CELPDS on September 3-6 in Isaub National High School (INHS) and Iraan-Sagpangan National High School (ISNHS).
Quoting Janelle Beltran of the CELPDS, the PIO said an estimated 70 students from ISNHS participated in the launching. Most of them were Grades 9 and 10.
In INHS, around 100 students participated, mostly from Grades 11 and 12.
“Ito ay para sa mga kabataan natin para mabigyan sila ng oras na malaman nila ‘yong mga bagay na kailangan nilang matutunan para mas maging maayos ang kanilang pag-aaral at pamuhay sila bilang isang kabataan” Beltran said in the statement.
During the launching, the CELPDS discussed the problems which affect the youth today such as depression, broken family relationship, bullying in school communities, social media and online games addiction, watching pornographic social media content, and drug addiction.
“Pangunahing tinalakay sa nasabing aktibidad ang mga problemang nararanasan ng mga kabataan na nakakaapekto sa mga ito tulad ng depresyon at iba pa. Isa pa, binibigyang-diin din ng mga tagapagturo ang kahalagahan na magkaroon ng maayos na relasyon sa pamilya ang bawat kabataan kasi malaki ang maitutulong nito sa kanilang pag-aaral at sa pang araw-araw na pagharap sa hamon ng buhay,” Beltran added.
Meanwhile, poem writing, slogan making, and jingle making contests were also included in the program.
