A proposal has been filed before the City Council mandating restaurants to grant registered solo parents 20 percent discount every first and last Sunday of the month.
City councilor Victor Oliveros, the author of the proposed ordinance, said Tuesday that the measure aims to recognize the efforts of single parents in raising their children.
He also pointed out that the proposed bill has a “small scope” for now and only intends to landmark the benefits for said solo parents.
“Simulan natin sa restaurants, at kapag ito ay naging batas na, baka sakaling mapalawig pa natin ang scope nito,” he said.
The proposed city ordinance was referred to the committee for further study as Oliveros maintains hopeful that the city council will approve the bill before the end of the year so it could be implemented come January.
The registered solo parent must present a valid solo parent ID issued by the Puerto Princesa City Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to avail themselves of the discount.
