The suspected illegal logger who shot and wounded a park ranger of the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) has remained at large, as park authorities are set to file multiple criminal charges against him and his father who was caught following the incident last May 21.

Elizabeth Maclang, PPUR park superintendent, told Palawan News they are still awaiting additional documentation before filing the cases against a certain Fernando Mameng Jr., who has gone into hiding.

Mameng Jr., along with his father and namesake, reportedly shot park ranger Guillermo Celino in the leg following a heated confrontation when the two were accosted by a group of rangers while trying to haul illegal logs within park boundaries in Barangay Tagabenit.

Mameng Sr., currently being held at the Puerto Princesa City Jail (PPCJ), is facing charges for violation of the Forestry Code of the Philippines.
