The Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) will conduct another river channeling activity on Friday, March 29 to further improve the water flow rate in Campo Uno in Barangay Irawan.
Jenn Rausa, PPCWD acting information officer, said Wednesday the activity would increase the supply of water to meet the consumer demands during the weekend.
“Kaya itong isasagawa natin sa Campo Uno ay malaking tulong siya para kahit papaano ay maka-supply lalo na at Sabado kinabukasan noon. Sabado kasi ang peak day. Dyan ‘yong maraming naglalaba, maraming gumagamit ng tubig kaya sinisikap namin na maihabol ito this Friday para masabayan ‘yong demand from our consumers sa araw ng Saturday and Sunday,” she said.
Last week, the water firm also conducted a cleanup drive and rechanneling activities in the Campo Uno dam in Barangay Irawan which caused a 300-cubic meter per hour increase in the water flow rate.
Rausa said the PPCWD is optimistic that the regular activity from the city’s main water source will increase its water flow rate.
The river channeling is a part of the contingency measures of the PPCWD to address the current water crisis being suffered by Puerto Princesa City, she said.
“Hopefully, hindi ito ‘yong last na pagcha-channeling natin sa Campo Uno and if ever man na maulit ito ay sana may partner agencies pa tayong makasama,” Rausa added.
