The city water district has resumed operation after an emergency system shut off due to damage in the old transmission line that was affected by the road widening project.

Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) acting information officer Jenn Rausa said Tuesday they have resumed operation as of 11 a.m. after completing work on their transmission pipe near Cabongan Bridge 2 in Barangay Sicsican.

Water is now back, she said, in areas in Sicsican to Sta. Monica after being affected by the temporary system shut off.

“May mga nag-aayos diyan so natamaan daw. Hindi naman backhoe ang nakatama, pero ‘yong mga nag-aayos dyan, natamaan ang old transmission line. Noong natamaan, doon nag-start ang leak,” she said.

The damaged pipe was repaired by putting coupling, she said.

However, Rausa said that the affected pipe is still under observation.

Rausa said they have also received complaints from affected consumers in some parts of Brgy. Irawan before the operation resumed. The system shut off took place around 9:00 a.m.

Previously, a PPCWD pipe was also damaged because of the road widening in Caramuran Bridge in Sicsican. It was hit by a backhoe.

“Tinatanong naman nila kami kung meron ba kaming linya sa area na possible nilang tamaan pero syempre may hindi pa rin talaga maiwasan kaya ganon ang nangyayari,” she said.
