Committee on Education chairman city councilor Victor Oliveros intends to call the attention of Palawan National School (PNS) principal Eduardo Santos following the complaint letter received in line with the anti-bullying film showing being “forced” upon students.

Oliveros on Friday disclosed the letter received from concerned parents of said school.

“Dahil sa natanggap naming complaint letter, kailangan natin itong bigyan ng pansin at gawan ng aksyon. I-endorse namin itong concern sa committee by next week,” he said.

Late last week, a public outrage on Facebook broke as students and parents expressed negativity towards the “compulsory” order given by Santos to watch a certain film highlighting anti-bullying.

A certain netizen even pointed out the “irony” on the campaign against anti-bullying when “students are [being] intimidated” to watch citing a quid pro quo between purchasing tickets and “helping to increase failing grades”.

Department of Education (DepEd) city schools division superintendent Servillano “Bong” Arzaga in an earlier press statement said that the students cannot be obliged to watch the film and even ordered the PNS administration to “refund” the tickets paid for by the students and parents.

As of press time, Palawan News is waiting to hear from Santos.
