The Palawan National School (PNS) held its 3rd Commencement Exercises online on May 31, streamed live on Facebook for the graduates.

School principal Eduardo Santos said Sunday that the school administration put together a virtual graduation to comply with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) order.

“The DepEd encouraged us to have our online or virtual graduation na hindi talaga magkakaroon talaga ng actual,” he said.

“Pinush namin ito just to satisfy ‘yong parents kasi yong parents nga ay nagri-request na sana magkaroon ng graduation kaso nga lang hindi pupwede,” he added.

The virtual graduation started at 2 p.m. on the school’s official Facebook page to recognize 1,404 senior high school graduates of the School Year 2019 to 2020 under different academic tracks.

Santos said that PNS followed the program properly and the management got a video greeting from the education secretary and from the keynote speaker in real-time.

“Excited nga sila (graduates) kahit na hindi makaka-attend, at least mapapanood nila. I actually invited all students and proud parents, even the other stakeholders to watch live the virtual graduation of Palawan National School kasi first time nga natin ito,” he said.

“Pero sinunod talaga namin ‘yong program namin, ‘yong arrangement ganon din ang pagkakasunod-sunod kaya lang naka-online so medyo iba ang magiging set up,” Santos added.
