To ensure a safe and secure election this May 2019, the PNP MIMAROPA under the stewardship of regional director Police Brigadier General Tomas C. Apolinario held a send-off ceremony on Thursday at its regional headquarters in Calapan City for the 4,690 personnel it will deploy.
A press statement sent by the PNP MIMAROPA said the number of policemen will handle the safety and security of 1,552 voting centers and 2,679 clustered precincts to ensure 1,831,328 voters from 1,460 barangays in the island region during election day.
In addition, 65 teams composed of 622 personnel will also be deployed as Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) from 429 regional headquarters with 470 personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) that will address conflict situations in their areas.
After the send-off, the 5th Regional Joint Security Control Center Meeting was held by the PNP MIMAROPA to finalize the review of the preparations and coordinating guidelines along with the partner agencies for the upcoming election.
The said activity was attended by Atty. Monalisa C Mamukid, regional election director, COMELEC MIMAROPA; Brig. Gen. Lauro Tianchon, deputy commander, Western Command AFP; Col. Antonio Lastimado, deputy brigade commander, 203rd Brigade, Philippine Army; Police Col. Maria Asuncion Placino, executive director, Directorate for Integrated Police Operations–Southern Luzon; Police Col. Joselito Nicodemus, personnel management division, DIPO-SL, and JSSupt. Ma. Arlene Gillera, assistant regional director for Administration/Operations, BJMP.
Also present in the event are the members of the Command Group, PRO MIMAROPA, Provincial and City Directors, Provincial Election Supervisors, representatives of the Regional Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail and Management Penology, National Telecommunications Commission, Air 21 Cargo Freight and other Local Government Units of Oriental Mindoro.
In her message after the meeting, Atty. Mamukid expressed her gratitude to the AFP and PNP personnel. She reminded everyone to perform their tasks with a high degree of efficiency and expertise to uphold the sanctity of votes.
Similarly, Apolinario assured that the election will be safe and peaceful, he reiterated to his personnel to remain steadfast and highly vigilant against all forms of lawless incidents especially on this crucial time when the PNP is the nation’s frontline against lawlessness and disorder. He further stressed that their presence on the ground will surely boost the security measures in ensuring the conduct of secure and fair elections.
