Physical injury, theft and illegal drugs are the most reported crimes in the poblacion area during the first quarter of the year, according to a report of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 1.

Each crime recorded nine cases.

From January to March this year, there were a total of 80 crimes reported in the station.

Crime against women and children had seven cases, child abuse had six cases, illegal gambling also six and six traffic incidents.

Police Lt. Rey Aron Elona, chief of the PPCPO Station 1, told Palawan News that despite the statistics, there were weeks that no crimes were reported or only three to four cases.

“May mga weeks kami na wala kaming crimes, meron namang mga weeks na tatlo o apat,” he said.

“Ang drug bust naman ang pinakamabilis niyan within three days ma-surveillance mo ‘yong tao, kasi ang kailangan naman dyan dahil buy bust, mabilhan ‘yong suspek” he also added.

Elona said they put up checkpoints every night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in designated areas around the poblacion to minimize crime incidents.
