Ten responders from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Rescue 165 joined the recently concluded rescue competition of the 4th UNTV Rescue Summit in Marikina City, displaying proficiency in saving lives during disasters and calamities.
PDRRMO chief Jeremias Alili led the delegation that took home P50,000 consolation prize for joining the competition on April 27-28, a statement released by the Palawan Provincial Information Office (PIO) said Tuesday.
It said Marikina City hosted this year’s UNTV Rescue Summit which was joined by rescue groups in the country, such as Camarines Sur, Cagayan, Bulacan, Nueva Viscaya, Laguna, Balanga, Bataan, and San Pedro, Laguna.
All who participated in the competition and summit received free training seminars on disaster concept and management, family disaster plan, and hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The competition was won by the Camarines Sur rescue group which was awarded a P2 million cash prize, followed by Nueva Ecija which received P1.5 million, and Balanga, Bataan, which went home with P1 million.
The rescue summit and competition was organized to improve the skills of the participants on disaster risk reduction management in the country.
