PDIC vice president Jose G. Villaret, Jr. and Neneth Gayla, PDIC deputy receiver for loans, at the Kapihan sa PIA on Monday to discuss the properties of the Rural Bank of Narra that will be opened for public bidding in March.

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) is expecting that the first nationwide survey to gauge public perception, awareness, and confidence on them and the Philippine banking system will be completed before the end of the month.

PDIC vice president Jose G. Villaret, Jr. said Monday that the survey being undertaken by Kantar Philippines, Inc. (Kantar) is aimed at measuring the perception of the public regarding the PDIC and “promote confidence” in the banking system in the country.

Speaking before members of the local press in a Kapihan hosted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Villaret said the PDIC will have the result of the survey in March.

“The pre-testing has been done, it will start within February. Ang aim niya ay malaman kung alam ba ng tao kung ano ang PDIC at kung kilala, paano ang pagkakakilala,” Villaret said.

He said the current public perception of the PDIC is that it is “intimidating.”

“We have a sample of 1,500 for the survey. May pagkakataon kasi na ang PDIC, parang ang presensya niya, parang feeling ng tao may pangit na mangyayari,” he said.

The PDIC was established on June 22, 1963, by Republic Act 3591 to provide depositor protection and help maintain stability in the financial system by providing deposit insurance.
