The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) enforcement team recently confiscated a chainsaw from a man who was cutting down trees along the national highway in Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.

According to the team’s report, the operation occurred on September 7 during a regular patrol in Irawan at 10:30 a.m.

The operator of the chainsaw was verified to be an employee of a Palawan-based company; nevertheless, the nature of the business/purpose of the confiscated chainsaw activity remains unclear.

The undocumented chainsaw is now in the custody of the PCSDS Evidence Custodian, and the chainsaw operator is facing legal action for violating RA 9175, the Chainsaw Act of 2002, which prohibits anyone from selling, purchasing, transferring ownership, distributing, or otherwise disposing or possessing a chainsaw without first obtaining the necessary permit from the proper authorities.
