The Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) explained that the total blackout last Thursday night in the city of Puerto Princesa was due to an emergency shutdown of DMCI Power in Barangay Irawan.

In a Facebook post of the electric cooperative on Friday, the power loss occurred at 10:55 in the evening in Puerto Princesa. Also affected are the towns of Narra, Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Sofronio Espanola, and Roxas.

“Nag emergency shutdown ang DMCI Irawan dahil sa isang unit nito na nasunog at nag-trip naman ang ibang unit ng mga planta dahil sa overload,” as stated.

In an attempt to further explain the stated reason, Palawan News tried to call Engr. Ric Adajao, Technical Services Department (TSD) manager of PALECO but he did not answer the call.
