The provincial office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) said Tuesday that voter registration turnout from August 1-24 is already at 8,2017.

Jomel Ordas, spokesperson of the election commission’s provincial office, said 15 percent or 1,267 of the new registered voters are aged 15-17 for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and 85 percent or 6,940 are 18-years-old and above.

By sex, 49 percent or 4,019 are males and 51 percent or 4,188 are females.

He said that by type of application, 52 percent or 4,245 are new registration; 25 percent or 2,052 transferred from other cities or municipalities; nine percent or 738 transferred within same city and municipality; eight percent or 679 reactivation, and six percent or 493 applied for change or correction of their entries.

The Top 6 city and municipalities with registered voters are Puerto Princesa City with 38 percent or 3,141; Bataraza with 12 percent or 995; El Nido with eight percent or 665; Narra with six percent or 455; Coron with five percent or 447, and Araceli also with five percent or 427.

Ordas said that from July 25 to August 21, they also had an inventory or opening of yellow metal boxes to determine how many are still serviceable for the May 11, 2020, synchronized SK and barangay elections.

“Nagkaroon din tayo ng inventor of yellow metal boxes conducted by our elections officers (EOs) to determine kung ilan pa ang available at serviceable ballot boxes na puwede gamitin. Ito ay para pa rin ng preparatory activities ng COMELEC for the SK and barangay elections,” he said.

Ordas said that to date, there around 2,603 serviceable yellow metal boxes out of 2,658.

He said they were assisted by the offices of the city and municipal treasurers.
