The number of persons under investigation (PUI) in Palawan slid down further to 17 from yesterday’s 38, according to the regional tracker of the Department of Health (DOH).

A total of 21 PUIs were cleared as of Monday (3 p.m., April 13) by the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) including one doctor from Ospital Ng Palawan who tested negative for the deadly infection.

The regional office reiterated to the public the importance of following the precautionary measures set to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Pinapakiusapan ang mga mamamayan na manatiling mahinahon at gawin ang mga preventive measure upang malabanan ang pag kakasakit at mapigilan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Melecio Dy, hospital director of ONP, said Monday evening that the rest of the medical staff will now be allowed to break quarantine.

“Negative siya ngayong hapon dumating ang result. ‘Yong mga staff last day nila ngayon, all of them na pina-quarantine natin wala naman any of them ang nag-develop ng signs and symptoms,” he said.

However, Dy clarified that they are still awaiting the result for one doctor.

“Meron pa tayong awaiting isa pa, isang test ng isang doctor. Basically, dalawang doctors ang pina-test natin to make sure lang. ‘Yong isang doctor na nag-intubate sa emergency room (ER), ‘yon ‘yong lumabas na result ngayon na negative. Then ‘yong wala pa ‘yong doctor na tumitingin sa kanya,” he added.
