A Palawan broadcaster was arrested by the Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) Station 1 on Monday afternoon for libel.

Arrested was Tomy Martinez Abile, a radio commentator of DWOK FM 107.9 Palawan “Ang Bigwas Station”.

Police Officer 3 Michael Muega, desk officer of the OCPO Station 1, confirmed Abile’s arrest to Palawan News.

“Naka-detain siya ngayon dito. Libel case ito. May [arrest] warrant siya (He’s detained here now. This is about a libel case. He has an arrest warrant),” Muega said.

He said that the OCPO has not yet coordinated with the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) regarding the arrest.

Abile was previously accused by two female staff of the radio station for alleged sexual harassment, attempted rape, gun threat, and insufficient wages.

The complainants have since resigned from his station.

Chief Inspector Mark Allen Palacio, station commander of PPCPO Station 1, however, said there was no formal complaint filed against the radio man.

Wala pa [so far any complaints na idinulog dito sa Station 1], nagpa-radyo lang naman. Ang sabi nagpa-radyo lang [ang mga alleged victim],”  Palacio said.

(So far, no complaint has been filed here at Station 1, they just did it on the radio. What we’re told is that the victims only exposed it on the radio.)

Senior Police Officer 1 Marlon Basaya, PPCPO Station 1 warrant officer and Chief Inspector Reginald Pagulayan, station commander of PPCPO Station 2, also said there is no pending arrest warrant in their station issued against Abile.
