The new San Vicente Airport (SVA) will be welcoming the Philippine Airline’s (PAL) maiden flight from Clark, Pampanga on October 28.
PAL Puerto Princesa Branch manager Joel Paderes said the inaugural flight is already fully-booked at P988 for a one-way ticket.
The route bypasses the Puerto Princesa City International Airport (PPCIA) to cut travel time.
“Actually, kaya ‘yan nilagay ‘yong Clark to San Vicente is to shorten the travel. Iyon lang, I am not sure [if] those from Manila will go to Clark to go to San Vicente or take the Manila-Puerto route. Depende sa kanila (pasahero) ‘yan,” Paderes said.
The opening of the SVA-Clark route will be beneficial to travelers from northern and central Luzon.
However, he said PAL has expressed worries that passenger load in Manila might lessen.
“Kasi kung walang transport, mamatay ‘yang ruta na yan, di ba, saan sila sasakay? But the local tourism assured us that nakausap na rin nila ‘yong local transport,” he added.
Paderes said the local government unit of San Vicente has assured that transports will be available to also take guests to Barangay Port Barton, and El Nido town.
He said the frequency of the flight will increase from five times a week to seven by December 28.
The PAL flight San Vicente will be at 7:00 a.m.-8:40 a.m. from Clark and 9:00-10:40 a.m. from San Vicente based on initial PAL schedule.
