An emergent demand from tourists wanting to shorten their travel time to El Nido by skipping the airport gateway in Puerto Princesa City has prompted Philippine Airlines to open a route servicing the newly opened San Vicente airport and Clark International Airport by October 28, 2018.
PAL Puerto Princesa Office Branch Manager Joel Paderes said the additional flights to the municipality of San Vicente will be on a trial run.
“If traffic is good, the flights will continue pero if traffic is low and hindi naman profitable, tatanggalin,” he said.
Paderes said that although tourism activities are still limited in San Vicente, PAL is hoping that with the opening of this flight, more developments will take place for the municipality to become a prime destination, too.
He further said landowners in the town should already consider setting up tourism-related business ventures to cater to the anticipated needs of the projected increase of tourists.
“I think in the near future as what they say it’s the next Boracay. Ang ganda ng white beach doon, ang problema lang hindi pa developed,” he said.
PAL will open two-way flights from Clark to San Vicente from 7:30-9:10 a.m. and vice versa from 9:40-11:20 a.m.
The aircraft that will be used to service the Clark-San Vicente route will be the 76-seater Bombardier Q400.
