A 3-month moratorium on the payment of all types of loans has been offered by Pag-IBIG to its member-borrowers “to help defray their expenses” during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
According to a Pag-IBIG press statement posted online, the eligible individuals to apply for a moratorium are the member-borrowers of the Pag-IBIG Fund Housing Loan, Multi-Purpose Loan, and calamity loans with payments due on March 16 to June 15.
“Our Board of Trustees saw this as an urgent measure and immediately voted for the grant. This moratorium will help alleviate our members’ worries so that they could focus on providing for the basic necessities and safety of their families,” said Pag-IBIG Fund chair and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Sec. Eduardo del Rosario.
Pag-IBIG stated that only those residing in the Luzon area and National Capital Region (NCR) can avail of the moratorium offer.
The agency will start receiving applications once the ECQ has been lifted by the government.
Members may submit their applications at their Pag-IBIG Fund branch until June 15.
Meanwhile, Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Acmad Rizaldy Moti said that the welfare of their members is their priority.
“Our goal, therefore, is to meet their needs and empower our Filipino workers. Thus, we will do what we can do to ensure that they will not be put in a difficult situation especially in trying times such as these,” he said.
