PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — Occidental Mindoro recorded one positive COVID-19 patient, bringing the total cases in the MIMAROPA region to 37.

The patient, a 42-year-old female healthcare worker from Sablayan town, is the 8th COVID-19 positive patient in the province, according to the Occidental Mindoro provincial government’s official Facebook page.

“Si Patient No. 8 ay isang 42-year-old na babae at isang healthcare worker mula Sablayan. Natanggap ng Provincial Health Office (PHO) ang kanyang test result ngayong araw May 20, 2020 mula [sa] Philippine Red Cross,” the statement said.

The new case was detected under Occidental Mindoro’s expanded targeted testing conducted on May 13 and 14.

Occidental Mindoro’s two active cases remained to be asymptomatic patients.

In Palawan, two suspect COVID-19 patient deaths was reported by the Center for Health Development (CHD-MIMAROPA). The details, however, were yet to be disclosed by the health authorities.

A total of 58 suspect COVID-19 patients, 16 of whom were admitted in different hospital while 42 were under strict home quarantine, was reported in Palawan province as of 3 p.m., Tuesday (May 19).
