The National Food Authority (NFA) is targeting to improve this year’s performance of their office on the procurement of unhusked rice in the next harvest season.

Osmundo Guinto Jr., newly-installed NFA provincial manager, said they are now strategizing on how to reach their procurement target.

“It’s better na mag-plan kami ahead, most especially now that the mandate of NFA will concentrate on buffer stocking kaya ngayon kalahati pa lang ng July nag-uumpisa na kami magplano at mag-strategize kung ano ang aming gagawin during the procurement season,” Guinto said.

Their procurement target for the harvest season is 600,000 sacks of rice.

Guinto, however, did not specify what measures they will take.

He said they will talk directly to the farmers to discuss how they can reach their targets.

“Kaya dapat mag-isip kami out of the box. Kung ang gagawin namin is the same kagaya ng ginawa namin last year, maybe hindi namin ma-hit ang target and we need to really strategize ng maganda,” he pointed out.

Guinto was formerly assigned in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Former Palawan provincial manager Engr. Alwin Uy was transferred to Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

The movement of personnel is part of the ongoing reshuffling in the agency.
