Mayor Lucena Diaz-Demaala holds a press conference regarding Narra's 50th Founding Anniversary celebration on June 21

Since the cancellation of this year’s Baragatan Festival, the municipality of Narra focuses on celebrating its 50th Founding Anniversary on June 21 with the theme: “Narra, Limampung taon mula ng legal na maitatag, patuloy na susulong at magiging matatag.”

Mayor Lucena Diaz-Demaala in a press conference held Thursday said that this year’s celebration will be different from the previous year.

“It will be more bongga [celebration], kung tinitingnan natin, nagkaroon kami ng conflict sa provincial government sa Baragatan, medyo naiiwan ‘yong celebration namin dito but this time, I was very thankful na wala tayong Baragatan so we can concentrate on our 50th Year or Golden Anniversary celebration”, she said.

Demaala said that this is an opportunity for the town to showcase its progress over the years and promote its tourist destinations.

The highlight of the month-long celebration is the ceremonial planting of the time capsule which will contain documentation of the town’s achievements and progress of Narra for the past 50 years.

She said that it will be opened again after 50 years.

A Golden Jubilee Concert and Fireworks featuring Silent Sanctuary Band and Aia De Leon will also entertain residents and visitors.

The other activities lined-up for the celebration are the Inter-Barangay Olympics, Inter-TODA Basketball, Mayor LDD Motocross Challenge, Badminton Tournament, Zumba Dance Competition, the Arbor Day “Pista ng Kalikasan”, tree Planting and Environmental consciousness Activities and the first ever Inter-School and SK Debate contest, Spoken Word Poetry Battle.
