NARRA, Palawan — The Sangguniang Bayan here launched recently a program it dubbed “Pasa-Buy”, a community purchasing system intended to support the local elderly, people with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant mothers, and those with newborn babies during the enhanced community quarantine.
Under the scheme, designated LGU personnel will collect orders and payments from qualified locals to make the purchase for them and deliver the items door-to-door to the residents.
Vice mayor Crispin Lumba Jr. said the project name was coined from the words “pasabay” and “buy”.
“Pasa-buy” means their target beneficiaries can request their Sangguniang Bayan staff to purchase medicine, milk formulas, and other essential supplies in Puerto Princesa City.
Lumba said they will continue to run the project until the ECQ is lifted.
“Hanggang nasa ECQ po tayo, kasi hanggang hindi pa na-nonormalize ang galaw nating lahat, hangga’t hindi pa maayos ‘yong supply natin sa ating merchant, tutulong ang ating Sangguniang Bayan,” he said.
Narranons could place their orders at the newly-constructed public market opened 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
He also said that Narranons living in nearby barangays who need help in buying their medicines can go to the public market and look for the Sangguniang Bayan staff and give their request.
For those living in far-flung barangays, they could coordinate with the Sangguniang Kabataan of their barangay that will receive their orders.
The program is in line with the resolution principally authored by Sangguniang Bayan councilor Christine Joy Mahilum.
