The municipal government of Narra has started distributing food packs for all the households across town on Wednesday.
Mayor Gerandy Danao, in an interview with Palawan News, assured that the LGU will be providing assistance to the families and encouraged Narranons to plant crops around their home because they could not determine the duration of the government assistance to the families.
Kaya kailangan ‘yong galaw natin, kahit andyan lang tayo sa bahay meron tayong makakain,” he said.
Some 1,498 families from Barangay Panacan 2 and 1,963 from Bgy. Antipuluan were the first batch received the food packs.
Over 21,000 food packs from the calamity fund of the Local Government of Narra were expected to be fully distributed within the week.
Each food pack contains 20 kilos of rice, 10 pieces canned goods, 10 pieces instant noodles, 1 pack of coffee, and 2 pieces bath soap.
The distribution was gradual because the local government is still waiting for more supplies to be delivered to them due to certain limitations of logistics.
On the official Facebook page of the Inter-Agency task force-COVID-19 named Fight for COVID-19 updates, they assured everyone that all families in the town will be receiving their own food packs that will be distributed by their barangay officials.
Danao also encourages well-off Narranons to extend assistance to those who needed much help from the government.
