Puerto Princesa City and all the southern towns down to Bataraza, including Roxas in the north, will experience power interruptions within the day (Saturday) as the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) undertakes clearing operations around its transmission lines.
Engr. Alfredo Zabala, NAPOCOR plant manager, said the line clearing activity happens every six months and will be the first this year.
“Cut sandali [ang ilaw] para malinisan ‘yong linya at para mag-maintenance na rin sa linya so hangga’t di ibabalik yon, di makakarating ‘uong supply ng ibang mga planta, ‘yong nakakarating lang sa Puerto Princesa ay limited ‘yong supply,” Zabala said.
Zabala said line clearing will help the electricity from the power plants of DMCI and Palawan Power Generation Incorporated (PPGI) in Narra to transmit supply directly to Puerto Princesa.
“May supply deficit sa Puerto Princesa City dahil sa pag-isolate ng 69kV transmission line ng NAPOCOR mula sa Irawan switching station papuntang Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) 2x25MVA substation,” a statement by PALECO posted on Facebook said.
The power firm listed the following areas to be affected:
Mendoza Recloser (10:00 a.m. to 12:30 noon)
Parts of Barangays San Jose; Bgy. Tagburos; portion of Sta. Lourdes; Honda Bay; Bacungan; Sta Cruz, and Salvacion up to Langogan
Nadayao Recloser (12:20 noon to 2:30 p.m.)
