A 24-year-old motorcycle rider died Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision with a 10-wheeler dump truck at the national road in Sitio Makinit, Barangay Barotuan, El Nido.
A second rider was seriously injured, according to Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO) spokesperson P/Capt. Ric Ramos.
Ramos identified the fatality as Argie Jordan Dagot, driver of the red Euro Motorcycle 125, and resident of Sitio Alek-ek, Barangay Teneguiban, El Nido.
The other injured victim was identified as Marcelito Gutierrez Martinez Jr., 63, a resident of Sitio Matula-tulaen, Brgy. Villa Libertad in the same municipality.
Ramos said the dump truck was being driven by Moises Robiso Cabiles, a resident of Brgy. Luzviminda, Puerto Princesa City.
He said that based on initial investigation, the 10-wheeler dump truck was on its way to Teneguiban from Villa Libertad when the accident happened.
“Nang dumating sila sa lugar kung saan nangyari ang aksidente, mabilis umano ang takbo ng motorsiklong minamaneho ni Dagot. Bumangga ito sa kanang bahagi ng sasakyan,” he said.
Dagot sustained serious wounds that resulted to his death.
Martinez was thrown off the motorcycle but survived.
Cabiles was placed under the custody of the El Nido police.
