An elderly woman who was reported missing two weeks ago by her family and relatives was found dead Saturday morning in a mangrove area along the coast of Purok 2, Barangay New Barbacan, Roxas.

A spot report sent by Police Captain Ric Ramos, spokesperson of the Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) identified her as Mercedes Rosedo, 67, and a resident of Barangay Sandoval.

Her body, which was already in an advanced state of decomposition, was found around 6 a.m. on March 23 by fisherman Ronnie Honorio who was catching crabs in the mangroves in Purok 2.

The report to the Roxas municipal police station, on the other hand, was made by councilor Rogelio Bacomo.

The spot report did not say how Rosedo ended up dead in the New Barbacan coastal area.

A follow-up investigation will also be conducted by the Roxas municipal police station to determine if there is foul play in her death.
