Provincial election supervisor Atty. Urbano Arlando has been replaced temporarily by Atty. John Mark Tambasacan of Oriental Mindoro for the 2019 midterm polls.

The nonpermanent reassignment of provincial election supervisors (PES) is part of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) goal to remove any doubt of partiality throughout the election this year.

Arlando will be the provincial election supervisor stand-in in Marinduque, said Thursday by provincial COMELEC spokesperson Jomel Ordas.

Ordas said the reshuffling was implemented on December 28, 2018, but Tambasacan only assumed as the province’s election supervisor on January 7.

“Kailangan during or before the election ay iba na ang may hawak ng area nila pati mga supervisors.  (It is necessary that on or before the election, the supervisors holding areas have been reshuffled),” he said.

Ordas said Palawan’s 24 election officers (EOs), including Puerto Princesa City’s, will also be reassigned before the end of January.

“Wala pang utos ngayon, naghihintay pa rin tayo ng directive tungkol sa reassignment ng mga EOs natin. Order ‘yan from the commission kaya hintayin natin (We have not received any order yet, we’re still waiting for the directive regarding the reassignment of EOs. It’s an order from the commission so we’re waiting),’ Ordas said.
