Marinduque recorded its first positive case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total COVID-positive in the region to two.
The Center for Health Development-MIMAROPA (CHD-MIMAROPA) confirmed Monday an additional case, a 24-year-old male Filipino with a travel history from Parañaque, who went to Marinduque on March 12 and experienced fever and sore throat upon arrival.
He sought medical consultation and was admitted to a local health facility. The patient was transferred to another local health facility on March 14 and was then sent home after his condition improved on March 18.
Specimen samples for confirmatory testing were collected on March 15 and were sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). He tested positive on March 23 and is currently in a stable condition and under home quarantine for strict monitoring.
Contact tracing is currently being done by the Marinduque Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO).
