A resident of El Nido was arrested Wednesday for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Chief Inspector Thirz Starky Timbancaya of the El Nido Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the suspect as Arthur “Boboy” Panaguiton of Barangay Pasadena who was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Branch 95 of the Palawan Regional Trial Court (RTC).
The suspect faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions) and Republic Act 9516 amending sections 3 and 4 of Presidential Decree No. 1866 of 1983.
Timbancaya said Panaguiton was arrested in his residence in Pasadena.
Seized in his possession were 20 pieces live ammunition for M16; eight pieces live ammunition for a shotgun; two live ammunition, a grenade launcher, five pieces live ammunition for a caliber .38; three pieces homemade shotguns, one piece of caliber .38 revolver, and assorted military uniforms.
Timbancaya said his arrest is part of “Oplan Katok,” to ensure nobody shall be allowed to possess or carry any firearms without the permit to carry.
“Kinakailangan natin masigurado na mahuli ang mga may ganito upang maiwasan ang anumang hinde magandang pangyayari lalo na’t paparating na ang ating halalan”, Timbancaya added.
The suspect has already undergone inquest proceeding in Puerto Princesa City.
