The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Palawan has accredited 10 local doctors to issue the medical certificates they require for driver’s license applicants and renewals.

The accredited doctors are Dr. Victorino Quiray at Walk-In Medical Clinic; Dr. Nicanor Funelas and Dr. Emmanuel Veranda of Noel Medical Clinic; Dr. Joanna Francesca Nayal of Prohealth Medical Healthcare Services; Dr. Rachel Tucay, Dr. Precious Ivy Gicole, and Dr. Rodner Mendoza of Medical Clinic ni Juan; Dr. Susan Zambrano of St. Joseph Medical and Rehabilitation Center; Dr. Pennsylvania Baluyut and Dr. Harold Ian Iquin of Cable Tow Medical Clinic.

All medical clinics are located at Valencia Street, Barangay Masikap, Puerto Princesa City.

Antonia Dela Cruz, LTO- Palawan District Office head, told Palawan News Monday that effective January 15 their agency implemented the policy of online-only submission of medical certificates.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 2018-2157 of the LTO dated December 7, 2018, all medical certificate should be from accredited clinics.

“All LTO licensing sites are hereby instructed to start accepting only electronically transmitted Medical Examination Certificates to the LTO IT Systems. In addition, the Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors are directed to advise the physicians issuing or intending to issue Medical Examination Certificates for Driver’s License applications and other related transactions, a least 1 week prior to the Implementation Date to go to their applicable Regional Office and commence registration, specific time and venues to be determined by their respective regions,” the memorandum said.

Dela Cruz said they are supposed to implement the order on January 14 but they had to prepare their office systems for it.

“Nag-start na kami ng online submission from our accredited physicians and clinic. January 14 ang order pero nakapagsimula tayo 15 na kasi may mga inayos pa tayo. Sa ngayon maganda naman ang kinakalabasan,” she said.

She appealed for patience for the recent change in their policy for medical certificates.

“Sa lahat naman ng pagbabago kailangan natin mag-adjust. So far, maayos naman ang proseso dahil nga nakalink na ang system,” she added.
