The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression that may approach the country if its intensity is sustained, the state weather bureau said Thursday.
Aldczar Aurelio, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said that the weather system was located at 1,655 kilometers (km) east of Central Luzon and is moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph)
It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
“Isang” is the ninth storm within PAR in 2021.
Meanwhile, the easterlies wind or the warm air coming from the Pacific Ocean is still affecting the country. Isolated rain showers will be expected due to thunderstorms, PAGASA added.
