LPA develops into tropical depression

One of the two low-pressure areas (LPA) being monitored by the state weather bureau outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression, but the temperature in Palawan will remain humid from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the tropical depression might enter the PAR on Wednesday, September 11.

He said it is now located 1,180 kilometers east of Visayas.

“Ang tropical depression ay halos hindi gumagalaw, subalit inaasahan natin na posible na itong pumasok sa PAR ano mang oras ngayong araw at sa kasalukuyan ay nakakaapekto pa rin ang southwest monsoon dito sa Luzon,” he said.

The tropical depression has maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) while it has a gustiness that could reach up to 55 kph.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to prevail over the country to affect some portions of Luzon.

“Sa kasalukuyan walang nakataas na gale warning kaya ligtas pa rin makakapaglayag sa kahit anong bahagi ng bansa, ibayong pag-iingat dahil ang karagatan ay nasa katamtaman hanggang sa maalon,” he said.
