LGUs urged to monitor Kalahi-CIDSS buildings

The Palawan Provincial Board (PB) has asked local government units (LGUS) in Palawan to monitor infrastructure projects funded by the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) to maintain its purpose.

In a resolution she authored, board member Cherry Pie Acosta said the provincial government wants to restore the abandoned government buildings.

Acosta said the money spent to build these structures should not go to waste.

“Sa ating pag-iikot, I found out na there are buildings of Kalahi-CIDSS that seem to be abandoned, and alam natin na it is people’s money. We don’t want na masayang ang pera na ito at gusto natin na mailagay ito sa tamang purpose (When I made rounds, I found out that there are buildings of Kalahi-CIDSS that seem to be abandoned, and we know it’s people’s money. We don’t want for the money to go to waste, we want to use properly),” Acosta said Thursday.

Kalahi-CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the national government implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) aimed to empower the people in barangays by providing basic services.

Most of these projects are the construction of several offices in the towns and barangays.

They are expected to maintain these structures to maximize its use.
