A female Korean tourist staying at Lamella’s Apartment in Barangay Bancao-Bancao was robbed of cash and gadgets amounting to P220,520 on Wednesday.
The robbery victim was identified as Korean national Sol An, 27, currently residing in the apartment that is located in Rizal Avenue Extension, Dagomboy Village in Bancao Bancao.
The police identified the suspect as a certain Emilio A. Amorin, alias John Kayron A. Amores, 27, a resident of Reynoso Street, Barangay Bagong Silang.
In a spot report received by Palawan News from P/Col. Socrates Faltado, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA, primary investigations said the incident was reported to the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 1 on August 15 around 10 a.m. by Helna Otic Almuallas, the victim’s “representative through a special power of attorney”.
Almuallas claimed that while the Korean victim and her boyfriend where sleeping in the apartment, Amorin forcibly entered the apartment by destroying the main door’s handle.
She said she saw the suspect after she woke up at around 3:15 a.m. to check if her brother had gone to the apartment to fetch her. Almuallas had also stayed at the apartment to the pass the night.
Almuallas said when she went out, she was surprised to see the suspect inside wearing a white polo shirt with black collar and black shorts. When she shouted at him, he said Amorin ran down the stairs and fled also through the main door.
The suspect reportedly carted away an iPhone charger worth P520; a Balanc watch worth P15,600; IWC watch worth P130,000; and U.S. dollars and Philippine pesos worth more than P65,000 — all worth P220,520.
Amorin was also captured running away with some of the items by copies of CCTV footage from Lamella’s Apartment.
Almuallas positively identified him in the rouge’s gallery, a collection of photographs of known criminals that the PPCPO Station 1 uses to identify suspects. Apparently, he has been involved in similar incidents in the past.
