Two municipal officers of Kalayaan town have resigned in protest against Mayor Roberto Del Mundo, who is facing a sexual harassment complaint filed by former employees.

Municipal administrator Billy S. Alindogan and administrative officer Maurice Philip Albayda severed ties with the municipal government on Friday. They are also set to stand as principal witnesses in the sexual harassment complaints filed by two female former employees of the municipality.

“Dalawa kami ng administrator namin ang nagresign today [Friday, July 30]. ‘Yong isang executive assistant naman ni mayor na malapit sa amin, single mom with five kids, terminated na din ni mayor,” Albayda told Palawan News.

The two officials had been assisting Del Mundo on his administrative functions, and representing the municipal government in the external agencies such as the Area Task Force West.

Albayda also said that he intends to run as a councilor in the upcoming local elections in a ticket formed by Del Mundo’s former supporters.

At least two former municipal employees have claimed that Del Mundo made repeated sexual advances on them using the Messenger app on social media.

The victims also claimed that their contracts were not renewed when Del Mundo found out that they had been maneuvering steps to file formal charges.

Palawan News has tried to reach Del Mundo to get his side but he has yet to respond to the messages and queries sent.
