The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) management called on the public Tuesday to join the celebration of the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival 2018.
Elmer Badilla, information officer of the PPSRNP management, said the festival has plenty of activities concerning biodiversity and entertainment everyone could enjoy.
“Iniimbitahan natin lahat, wala tayong pili. ‘Yong mga sumusuporta or hindi masyadong sumusuporta, lahat sila iniimbitahan natin dahil ang benefit nitong Subaraw Festival ay hindi lang naman iilan ‘yong magbe-benefit dito, kundi ‘yong buong Puerto Princesa, bilang ang turismo nga ay ‘yong ating primary livelihood dito sa ating lungsod,” Badilla said.
The festival theme is “Keeping the Balance of Transformative Tourism and Ecological Integrity.”
“Para namin siyang mantra, na in everything that we do, we always keep the balance between sustainable tourism and ecological integrity,” he explained.
During the opening in Brgy. Sabang on November 3, almost 1,000 people watched and joined the community parade.
“[Ang 1,000] ‘yong mga members and stakeholders [pa] lang ito, wala pa ‘yong mga nanood, kasi talagang inabangan din ng ilang mga residente kasi nga first time na nag-parade [na] naka-headdress, kasi [may] headdress competition tayo. First time din sa history ng PPUR management, kasi tradition ito ‘yong community parade na every time there is an activity, talagang nagpa-parade ‘yong community to show unity. So first time din na ganoon kahaba [ang parade], na ganito kalaki ‘yong naging parade natin doon sa Sabang,” he stated.
The Subaraw Biodiversity Festival will be until November 11.
The public can access the official Facebook pages of the City Information Office (CIO), PPSRNP, and Subaraw Biodiversity Festival 2018 on information on the activities.
