For the last centuries, women have been of great help in all aspects of development. They have done so many great things that shaped our world today. Some of them include Amelia Earhart who flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, Rosa Parks who sparked a movement that led to rights for African-Americans, and Clara Barton who was known as the “Angel of the Battlefield” for healing wounded soldiers during the Civil War, and for founding the Red Cross organization.

Heroines of the Past

One thing that all of them have in common is bravery. It is the most essential trait that one should have in order to achieve goals, so you would be confident in everything that you do. It is also the number one important thing in order to become a hero and save lives.

Just like Black Widow, listed below are three more women who saved lots of lives and lived their lives as a hero:

1.Yevdokiya Nikolayevna Zavaliy

Yevdokiya Nikolayevna Zavaliy is a 17 year old WW2 soldier who was mistaken for a man and was appointed as a squad leader. After being wounded 4 times and her gender was discovered, her platoon still fought. For that, she won over 40 medals of Honor.

2.Irena Sendler

During World War II, Irena Sendler smuggled more than 2,500 Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto, where she worked as a plumbing and sewer specialist. The Nazis eventually caught her, broke her arms and legs, and beat her severely. She had kept a record of all the children she helped and buried it in a glass bottle under a tree, which she later dug up and used to help reunite family members who had been torn apart.

3.Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery herself at the age of 29 and helped others obtain their freedom by leading 13 Underground Railroad missions. She was later employed by the Union Army, becoming the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war and liberating more than 700 slaves in South Carolina.

Some of Today’s Women of Might

All of them were heroines of the past, risking their lives for the sake of others. As some heroines we’ve seen on movies, they would either have immense strength or some powerful magic with them. Just like them, we also have women with phenomenal abilities.

In commemoration with Women’s month, we listed below three women who have amazing talents to show to the world that not only men possess amazing and interesting talents:

1.Lindsey Lindberg

Like Emma Frost who can turn her whole body to diamond, making her body very tough and durable, we also have Lindsey Lindberg who have very tough biceps. Also known as Mama Lou, she is an American who is a Guiness world record title holder for two bizarre records. She has the title for the most apples crushed in the biceps in one minute, which was 10. She got the title just this July 2014.

The other one is the most telephone directories torn by a female in one minute, and the record is five. Each book has more than 1000 pages. She achieved the record this November 2014, just a few months after her last world record.

2.Becca Swanson

As to Wonderwoman, we have our American bodybuilder Becca Swanson. She is sometimes referred to as “The world’s strongest woman”, as she holds several world records including highest squat, highest deadlift, highest bench press and highest total lift. She is also a professional wrestler won several titles.

In an interview from Critical Bench at, one question to her was, “What makes the difference between an average lifter and a champion?” Her answer was, “A true champion would do anything to get their workout in; an average lifter will miss workouts. A true champion will not brag about accomplishments, they will be asked. A true champion encourages others to excel to his or her level, and thrives off the motivation.”

3.Alison Teal

With the new movie of Lara Croft, we also have someone someone who matches up with her. Alison Teal is sometimes called “Lara Croft” or “Indiana Jones” for being a lifelong adventurer and surfer. She has a show called Alison’s Adventures, whose goal is to educate people with entertainment.

She was also featured on Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid. The show is about surviving in the wilderness with a partner until through the extraction point. She scored the highest primitive survival rating for the first season, and it was an all time high record.

These are only some women who have astounding abilities. There are more of them that prove that even they can compete with men in all aspects. Just like them, they just pursued their dreams, and that is why they are now successful in their respective professions.

This is just like what Hillary Clinton said in her Concession speech, “To all the little girls who are watching, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
