Committee on Sports chair and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president Myka Magbanua on Friday urged the City government to reward local athletes who competed and garnered medals in the SEA Games 2019.

Six Palaweño athletes have won medals: Romark Belo in water polo, Sarah Jean Catain-Kalalo, Josefina Maat, Jeffrey Morcillos and Ronsited Gabayeron in sepak takraw, and Kevin Dador Pascua on obstacle course race.

Magbanua said she intends to invite the medal haulers as “City Sports Ambassadors” who can help push the local government is establishing the sports tourism industry in the city.

“Our proudest congratulations to all the Filipino athletes who brought and will be bringing home the bacon especially to the Palaweño athletes who made it to the SEA Games and managed to bring pride not only to the City and the province but to the whole Filipino nation,” she said.

The list is not exhaustive as SEAG is still ongoing.
