The city government of Iligan in northern Mindanao has donated P1 million to the provincial government’s recovery efforts in Palawan following Typhoon Odette.

Councilor Jesse Ray Balanay of Iligan City was received on February 3 at the Capitol by Ceasar Sammy Magbanua chief of staff of the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO), and Provincial Treasurer Elino Mondragon, to whom the cheque for the amount was personally handed.

A press statement issued February 4 by the Provincial Information Office (PIO) claimed that the donation was part of Iligan City’s calamity fund.

Mondragon, meanwhile, said in the statement that the province, through Governor Jose Alvarez, expressed gratitude to Iligan City for donating to the recovery efforts.

He stated that the province acknowledged the donation by issuing a receipt allowing it to be deposited and accounted for.
