The Iwahig Community Eco-Tourism Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ICEMCO) is proposing to operate the floating restaurant and the firefly watching tour in the main campus of the Palawan State University (PSU).
Coop chairman Manuel Socrates said they have already submitted their proposal to the College of Hospitality Management and Tourism (CHMT) to operate the two community-based tourism projects for the university hostel in the Puerto Princesa Bay area.
He said they are also waiting to discuss it with PSU president Dr. Ramon Docto.
Socrates said that they already conducted a survey in the area and found out that the mangrove area near the hostel is suitable for a firefly watching tour.
As of now, he said ICEMCO is working with the local office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to get a permit to operate the area.
Socrates explained that they will transport the guests to the floating restaurant for meals and before proceeding to the firefly watching tour.
The spot is ideal for sunset dinners and has a great view of the bay, he said.
